Hi! I am Tania García, from www.edurespectschool.com, I am an expert in Respectful Education and a Parent & Teacher Educator. I invite you to get to know me a little more, so here you will find 17 things about me that define me quite well:
-
On July 13, 2011, I became a mother for the first time. My son Uriel was born to rock my world and my heart.
-
On June 22, 2016, my daughter Gadea was born, and now both my world and my heart are doubly rocked.
-
I was born in Madrid (Spain), but I moved to Catalonia (Spain) many years ago and still live there.
-
I am 34 years old, and I have been engaged in education since I was 15. When I started as a volunteer, I wanted to change the world; I clearly could see things that others couldn’t. I have worked in schools and high schools, youth campsites, educational psychology centers, alternative schools, hospital schools, centers with specific methodologies, adults educational centers, and so on. My main struggle has always been children and their families, using coherence and common sense. And not allowing that my adult focused emotions and needs cause harm to children.
-
Education is MY PASSION. But a conscious education. Children always being placed first, as they naturally deserve. For years, I have been helping families to bring a real balance to their homes. Also working with professionals that want to take care of their students’ needs with respect.
-
In 2012, I opened a center to give support to families in Barcelona (Spain). It is an association where we offer educational support to families from a respectful perspective. We work on learning disabilities, support for students, social-emotional problems; we also offer personalized coaching programs to families, workshops and different courses for parents and professionals. Always from a non-behavioral approach, from a respectful point of view. We help families and educators to manage their kids or students’ education without rewards or punishments, without shouts or threats, without constant arguments, understanding that the key point of every relationship is mutual respect.
-
In 2014, I founded Edurespeta, from where I continue to help families and educators to “accompany” their children or students the way they deserve: with respect, understanding, empathy, love, affection, common sense and coherence. First, training the adults in managing and understanding their emotions, so they can more easily accompany children with theirs. Hundreds of families have completed my pieces of training and have implemented changes from the first day, being able to experience a transformation in their lives.
-
I love reading; I can easily read 5-7 books simultaneously.
-
I am a fan of the world-renowned Spanish singer Alejandro Sanz (since I was 8). I also like basketball.
-
I have been three times at University (one, in-person; the other two were distance learning). Although they all were educational degrees, I never agreed with all the knowledge I learned there. I think that on those doctrines, children are always last in the row, adults trying to change their behavior instead of accompanying; judging instead of listening; indoctrinating instead of being an example. I never identified myself with those learnings, and consequently, I never put them into practice.
-
I am always learning. I love studying, investigating, creating, learning, reading… I’m now taking a Master’s degree in Education, finishing a degree in Social Education (at UNED – Spanish distance learning university), training on Montessori Method, etc.
-
I DO NOT like to be poorly treated: being insulted or offended, being shouted, being hit, anyone laughing at me, being threatened, being judged or destructively criticized. I don’t like to be compared or labeled or to be obliged to take decisions for which I am not prepared to, etc. Evidently, if I do not accept those things for myself (and I’m sure you do feel the same)… why should we treat children that way??
-
My favorite fruit is watermelon 🙂
-
I think that acting like the adults we are, we should all release ourselves from the weight of the “educational backpack” that we have been carrying since childhood. Everything that we experience when we are children guides us through our adulthood, EVERYTHING. I have been a beloved daughter, but still, I was punished, shouted, threatened, offended, blackmailed, compared, labeled… And all that had a terrible impact on me, to the point that it has taken me so many years to get over and rebuild my way of seeing and living a new life. I had to get beyond many childhood patterns and fears, regaining self-confidence and self-esteem. It’s not necessary that you got lots of beatings, that you were abandoned or bullied, just not having received the right emotional guide, or the affection and love whenever you needed.
-
I can honestly say I am a kind, cheerful, outgoing, sensitive and professional person.
-
I have one sister, Mar, on my mother’s side; and two brothers, Víctor and Sergio, on my father’s side, who I still haven’t had the chance to know (but I wish to)
-
Since 2016, my team and I have been working hard getting ready the English version of Edurespeta, for being able to help even more people all over the world. In May 2017, Edurespectschool.com is born.
See you IN! Thanks!!
